Program Overview

The Support a New Way for Hygiene initiative unites ZEROGROUND, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and Mind-Ra Mental Health Cosmetics to bring dignity, accessibility, and healing to self-care.

This program introduces an inclusive Mental Health Self-Care & Beauty Workshop designed for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), as well as individuals living with mental illness or sensory challenges.

Participants explore hygiene, adaptive beauty, and emotional wellness through hands-on workshops that emphasize independence, creativity, and self-acceptance. Hygiene is reframed not as a chore — but as a coping skill and act of self-love.

Program Goals

1. Promote Accessible Hygiene:
   Teach youth and adults how to care for their bodies safely, even when depression, anxiety, or disability make it difficult.
2. Empower Through Education:
   Provide tools for confidence, identity, and self-expression through adaptive fashion, sensory-friendly skincare, and beauty education.
3. Normalize Mental Health Needs:
   Encourage open discussion about hygiene barriers and mental wellness, helping reduce stigma across communities.
4. Bridge Wellness & Inclusion:
   Connect caregivers, clinicians, and families with inclusive resources that make hygiene accessible, dignified, and emotionally supportive.
